Sometimes the drum hits when you're feeling the idea when the trees move in the wind. When it feels like the city is breathing like an organism, you can see the nostrils the mouth, and the teeth.
I was reading about Lizzie McAlpine, the indie pop singer who sings about real-life issues like heartbreak and trust. About finding yourself and knowing God.

"For the psalmist, this is a comfort. This “searching and knowing” does
not drive God away; in fact, the psalmist is convinced that God holds us
while we work through our nights of darkness and questions. Why would
God do this? The psalmist believes it’s because God created and loves
us: “For you created my inmost being . . . I praise you because I am
fearfully and wonderfully made.”
Then I got a longing and went through Psalm 121 - hopped up on Hebrew commentaries and a Geneva study bible, I went in deep. I really want to do a lot more in the Psalms.
Psalm 121
My Help Comes from the LORD
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From where does my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
who made heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot be moved;
he who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, he who keeps Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
the LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life.
The LORD will keep
your going out and your coming in
from this time forth and forevermore.
It's interesting, how easily we fall back on thinking like an unbeliever.. The prophet talks of being unsettled, casting his eyes on this side and that, upwards for help.. anywhere except God at first. All of us so easily have our eyes taken from the word of God to other medicine at the first impulse of problems, pain, or loss.
The hopes that draw us away from God are vain and destructive, the spirit testifies that those who try to solve their pain by disregarding God, look in vain all around themselves, and make complicated plans to try to solve their problems. We will go to great lengths to avoid God in our solutions. It's in our nature but we should not seek safety anywhere but in God; but more than that, God knows that we will try… rather, after we have made ourselves tired from trying… unsatisfied, then and only then can we truly see…and know from experience, that there is no real help that lasts, no assurance of peace or victory anywhere but in God alone. Look how the world runs around up and down this and that. Nothing actually satisfies them. The more means and resources they have the less satisfied they are. They look up at the mountains, but miss the gospel at their feet.
Men however high they may look, will find no true salvation except in God.
What good is it if we are justified by God but we live as if he's an accessory who can’t save our life now? What good is a salvation that can’t give us peace now? God can. Simply replace trust in this world with trust in him.
God holds us up, The Hebrew word, מוט, mot, here shows both a sliding or falling, and a trembling or staggering, Oh yes the faithful stagger and even are ready to fall BUT as God sustains us by his power, we are said to stand upright. In the middle of the many dangers concerns and worries that every moment threatens us, it is difficult for us to get rid of all anxiety and fear, the Prophet at the same time testifies, that God keeps watch unceasingly over our safety.
